The forums at Aging Safely are not actively moderated. This means that when you make a new entry (called a "post") it goes directly into the forum and doesn't require approval.
We have requested that specific people act as "moderators" for the various forums. These people have special privileges and responsibilities. They are able to move posts to a different forum, edit anyone’s post or even delete it. These people act as "gate keepers" to the forum, keeping the discussion on track and from getting personal.
You can subscribe to a forum on the first page of each forum by clicking on "Email me when someone posts to this forum." Normally the moderator is also subscribed, so that they will quickly see each post. If the post can be easily answered they may choose to answer it. If the post is in the wrong forum they may move it. If the post has content that is inappropriate, SPAM or a duplicate, they may edit it or even delete it.
As a user if you see such content click on the yellow "Alert" button and report it. Either the moderator or the Webmaster will deal with it.
As a user, you can "post" or “reply” to someone else’s post. The editor buttons are similar to Microsoft Word. Since most people don't do fancy text formatting you are likely not to need any of them. When you are done writing your post, click on "Submit" at the bottom of the page. If you have forgotten something important, such as the "Subject:" at the top of the form, the submit won't complete. Each user can edit or even delete their own posts. So if you have made a mistake, or just want to try a practice post - feel free. You can delete it when you are done.
Certain posts are "pinned" this means that they are always listed first, such as the "Welcome" post. Others are "locked" meaning that you can't reply to them. If you see a post that you are interested in seeing the answer to then click on the "Subscribe" box. This is especially useful on your own posts. You will then receive an email when the post is replied to.
