Dave was early retired after 32 years in the computer industry. He worked for Digital Equipment, Compaq Computer and finally Hewlett Packard as each company bought the previous company.
He started out in Manufacturing, then became a Service Engineer in Seattle, a District Support Engineer for the Pacific Northwest. He moved to Massachusetts and worked improving the reliability and serviceability of Digital's new computer systems and networking hardware.
Finally he moved back to Seattle as manager of a software engineering group that made distributed engineering tools that allowed Digital's 600 person Unix Development Group to have developers located from Ireland to India, with the vast bulk of them in New Hampshire, New Jersey and Seattle, all work on the same code simultaneously.
